Jewish Blogger Picnic TODAY in Jerusalem, 2:30 PM

Monday, October 5, 2nd day of Chol HaMoed, 17th of Tishrei (details here)

Starting: 2:30 pm
Ending: 6:30 pm (or whenever the last person leaves)

Meeting Place: Gan Sacher ('cause they got a sukkah!) by the Giant Japanese Bell
(The bell is at the end of the park closest to the bus station and the Kraft Family Stadium)

Free Parking: by Beit HaChayal and Kraft Stadium (a short walk from the park)

Today we will follow the time-honored Israeli minhag of traveling to sukkot other than our own, to enjoy some of the adventures Israel nationally offers at this time of year.

We adults are escaping to the Aish Jerusalem Experience to enjoy a "panoramic rooftop view of the Temple Mount, Kotel and Old City," not to mention the serious nosh at the end.  (Hopefully, the police will have cleared up any remaining vestiges of the Arab riots as Hamas encourages the faithful to defend al-Aqsa Mosque from -- what?  hordes of vacationing accountants?)  Even though we will arrive too late for the Birkat HaKohanim at the Kotel this year, we don't feel too deprived, as the kohanim at our beit knesset give their own modest but impressive performance every morning, rain or shine.

Then we will "chill" with friends and family of fellow J-Bloggers, who did not feel we got enough social time at the recent J-Bloggers' Convention.

The boys are going to the annual Beit Shemesh Festival to hear some of the great local bands, including Shlock Rock, Chaim Dovid, Simply Tzfat, Adi Ran and Moshav Band.

For dinner, while the children find accommodations wherever, the adults will be dining in The Blue Room.

Haveil Havalim # 237 - The Sukkoth 5770 Edition, is up over at Ben-Yehuda's place.

Moadim l'simcha!
